The information revolution, the development of mass media and the achievements in science and technology have doubtlessly ushered us in a rapidly progressing society, where we may have no time to talk about our traditional culture. In the city, no one can escape from the fast pace. We eat the popularized fast food and enjoy the popularized "fast food" culture. Since we get so used to such fast things that many traditional things have been neglected, some people believe that the traditional culture will gradually be lost, but I think it will never be lost. Although entertainments are in abundance nowadays, traditional cultures still continue to dominate. We still regard going to a concert as a luxury. Many classic books touch a string from generation to generation in spite of time and space. And we are still moved by the inspirational spirits of our great ancestors.Traditional festivals remind us of our disposition to the traditional culture. Our relief in traditional culture gets ready to revive at any time. To some traditional cultures that are on decline, we have taken active measures to conserve them. Experts have come up with proper advice on protecting such cultures. Many volunteers have dedicated themselves to studying them. First and foremost, more and more people have discerned the importance of the traditional culture. Therefore, we are sure that our efforts will lead to a brilliant future. If a culture wants to gain an eternal life, it should change itself to cater to the people in its age. So does our traditional culture. Traditional cultures adhering to modern means appear rigorous. For example, we make CDs for classic music so that it can not only meet modern needs but also spread further and more successfully in the modern world. The appearance of traditional culture changes, but the essence will never change and will be well accepted. There is no need to worry about whether our traditional culture will be lost. It is an important heritage of the whole human race. No culture, no mankind. We cherish the traditional culture as we cherish our blood in our body. The traditional culture lies in life, forever continuing.。

Comparisons between Chinese and Western CultureChina dates its civilization back to five thousand years ago.Through these centuries,Chinese people have developed as a hard-working,brave,warm-hearted and neutral nationality. While most of the western people built up their countries several hundred years ago, they are characterized by liberty, opening, enterprising and risk-taking.Some detailed comparisons between Chinese culture and western one will be discussed as follows.Wushu, known in the West as Kongfu,is a traditional folk sport. It's Chinese martial arts and is characteristic of various barehand and armed combat techniques.People practice it to build up body and protect themselves.Qigong and Taijiquan are also popular sports widely spread in China. On the other hand, the western are more interested in such sports as baseball, softball, tennis ball, golf, etc. Some need a team spirit, some need speed, and others need patience and luck.Chinese opera,Beijing Opera for instance,is a comprehensive performing art.It combines music, singing, dialogues, acrobatics and martial arts. You must be fascinated by peculiar costumes, colored facial painting and excellent fighting scenes. The performers must spend many years practicing to guarantee the proficiency. However, the western opera doesn't include much action and facial painting, most of the opera are music, singing, dialogues and the usual life performance, just telling the viewers what happen in a story.Chinese traditional medicine is based on the theory of Yin (negative) and Yang (positive). If the balance in a person between Yin and Yang is disturbed,he is sure to become ill.Observing, listening and smelling, inquiring and palpating are four diagnostic methods. The medicine is mainly made from herbs, animals and minerals that are directly collected from nature. It must be boiled with water before the sick person takes it.On the contrary, the western doctors use high-tech equipment to diagnose the exact ill parts, prescript troches which can be directly swallowed with warm water, and maybe give an injection if necessary. The celebration of Spring Festival,Chinese Lunar New Year, has a history of two thousand years. Before the day, people working in other places will go home for the reunion supper,"Tuanyuanfan".After the midnight, people set off firecrackers and fireworks, believing that they will drive away the evil spirit.During the holiday, people will visit their relatives and friends.Qingming,Dragon boat,Mid-Autumn festival are also Chinese popular festivals. On the other hand,in the West,Christmas Day is the most important festival. Before the day, they buy Christmas trees decorated with colored flash lamps, and spend the day with their family; the children will wait all night for Santa Claus to send them presents.Valentine's Day,Easter,April fool's Day,Thanks-giving Day are western popular festivals.。

On Shanzhai Culture Good afternoon, Ladies and gentlemen! It's an honor to give you a speech, and the title of my speech is "on Shanzhai culture". The Chinese word "Shanzhai" literally means small mountain village, but it's now used to describe products that have names similar to famous brands or people who imitate celebrities. Products of "Shanzhai" usually have no good quality, but they are cheaper in price! In my opinion, "Shanzhai" has become a culture of its own, representing non-mainstream ideas. It's a new way for common people to enjoy a better life with less money. Generally speaking ,only if we make good use of "Shanzhai"culture, can we benefit from it. Good afternoon, Ladies and gentlemen! It's an honor to give you a speech, and the title of my speech is "Tea and the Tea Culture of China". In a country with the history of five thousand years, the Chinese tea drinking habit dated back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907AD). It became a national tradition and led to development of a delicate tea drinking ritual. Over the centuries, poets and artists in China wrote many marvelous masterpieces, in appreciation of tea and Chinese people's constant love of tea drinking .One of the best-known writers is Lu Yu, who was regarded as the “Tea Sage ” for he composed the first book on tea. In his classic book, he detailed his studies of tea, such as the origin of tea, tea tools, tea picking, tea cooking, tea ceremony and well-known areas where tea was grown. And the valuable knowledge he recorded has laid foundation for modern tea culture development. That's all, thank you for listening. 第三篇:关于西方文化的作文 (开头跟前面2篇一样就可以了) Despite the cultural conflicts between the Orient and the Occident, there do exist some admirable ingredients in the Western culture. First and foremost, the equality between parents and children. The parents are not always superior to their children, and the children do not always need to obey their parents 'order, that is, they are more like close friends. Second, the independent personality. Western people have a strong sense of supporting themselves and being independent. They begin earning their pocket money early in their life, even as kids. Last, Western people do not always assess a person according to his background. If only he can achieve success through personal struggle, he can win status. It's a talent-oriented society, not background-oriented.。

Traditional Chinese culture is beginning to capture the attention of the world. This is true even as popular culture that has traditionally been considered Western begins to spread throughout China. Kung Fu, especially, has had a great impact on the millions of people who first learned about China through it. From that, they may come to China and learn about other aspects of this culture, such as traditional operas like the Beijing and Sichuan ones. Asian nations have long known about the greatness of ancient Chinese culture. Their own cultures are a mix of native ones and those Chinese characteristics. Korea and Japan long ago adopted ideas such as Confucianism is something that continues today even as it is challenged by Pop Culture. This strength comes from the ideas given in the Four Books of Confucianism (The Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean, The Analects of Confucius, and The Book of Mencius). These books built upon the ideas of an even more ancient period codified in the Five Classics. From them, the West learns such things as Fengshui and other concepts that are uniquely Chinese. China has taken steps to further this spread of its culture by establishing Chinese Cultural Centers in such places as the United States and Europe.

    6.《The Power of culture》

Culture involves at least three components: what people think, what they do, and the material products they produce. Thus, mental processes, beliefs, knowledge, and values are parts of culture. Some anthropologists would define culture entirely as mental rules guiding behavior, although often wide divergence exists between the acknowledged rules for correct behavior and what people actually do. Consequently, some researchers pay most attention to human behavior and its material products. Culture also has several properties: it is shared, learned, symbolic, transmitted cross-generationally, adaptive, and integrated. The shared aspect of culture means that it is a social phenomenon; idiosyncratic behavior is not cultural. Culture is learned, not biologically inherited, and involves arbitrarily assigned, symbolic meanings. For example, Americans are not born knowing that the color white means purity, and indeed this is not a universal cultural symbol. The human ability to assign arbitrary meaning to any object, behavior or condition makes people enormously creative and readily distinguishes culture from animal behavior. People can teach animals to respond to cultural symbols, but animals do not create their own symbols. Furthermore, animals have the capability of limited tool manufacture and use, but human tool use is extensive enough to rank as qualitatively different and human tools often carry heavy symbolic meanings. The symbolic element of human language, especially speech, is again a vast qualitative expansion over animal communication systems. Speech is infinitely more productive and allows people to communicate about things that are remote in time and space. The cross-generational aspect of culture is indicated by the fact that individuals are born into and are shaped by a preexisting culture that continues to exist after they die. Kroeber and White argued that the influence that specific individuals might have over culture would itself be largely determined by culture. Thus, in a sense, culture exists as a different order of phenomena that can best be explained in terms of itself. Some researchers believe that such an extreme interpretation of culture is a dehumanizing denial of "free will," the human ability to create and change culture. They would argue that culture is merely an abstraction, not a real entity. This is a serious issue because treating culture as an abstraction may lead one to deny the basic human rights of small-scale societies and ethnic minorities to maintain their cultural heritage in the face of threats from dominant societies.。

China is wonderous and awe-inspiring. It has a history of five thousand years. It is the only continuous ancient civilization. Other ancient civilizations have changed, discontinued, withered or perished. Why is it so enduring? Why is it so coherent, often sticking to itself, remaining undivided? Why is it so dynamic, always able to revive, regenerate and revitalise itself? Why is it an immortal phoenix able to rise again on its ashes? These are enduring questions. Nobody can give a complete answer, full stop. They will stimulate intellect, provoke interest, engage investigation.Chinese culture is rich and profound. It has the richest historical records. Chinese have been most historically-minded. Perhaps, China has more historical records than the whole world put together. This guess will not be far from truth. She has a great deal of historical records from the pre-Christian era, not to mention the matchless twenty-six history books of the imperial dynasties. She is not the home of Buddhism, but she boasts of the richest Buddhist scriptures.Another area of the profundity of Chinese culture is her pre-industrial revolution science and technology. Before this revolution China had been the pace-setter not only in history and literature but also in science and technology. Unfortunately, this area had been all along neglected by the world, including China herself. Fortunately, this has been discovered and proved by the world-famous British scholar Joseph Needham. Thanks to his efforts, this has been universally accepted by the world's people as a matter of fact. The richness of Chinese culture also finds expression in its diversity and pluralism. China has always been a country of many ethnic groups. No matter which ethnic group was dominant, be it Hans, Mongols, or Manchus, her various peoples always could live under the same roof, worshipped the same emperor. It is true that there were times of division, but division was transient. There seem to be cycles of division and unification, but unification has oulived division. All these peoples have their own legacies, but they share the same legacy as well. They form the Chinese nation. The diversity and pluralism of Chinese culture is a tremendous asset. This is very keenly felt now. Increasing value is attached to this national treasure. Many giant western intellectuals have looked up to Chinese culture. Enlightment fathers drew inspiration from Confucianism. Some contemporary philosophers and psychiatrists have found cures for western ills in Chinese mysticism, Confucian ethics and Taoist non-government.
